Where Are They Now?

I should've posted this link back when people liked this band and they were EVERYWHERE on the internets. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah clapped their hands one too many times and couldn't keep up with the masses (or the orders for their debut record @ Insound). R.I.P. C.Y.H.S.Y. You will be missed...

Clap Your Hands Say NOOOOOOO!!!

Aziz Has Arrived

Shhhhhhhhhhhit, I put a link on this here blog for Aziz Ansari, the up-and-coming NYC comedian who surely floored Pitchfork staff members with his witty sketch about meeting rapper, M.I.A., entitled M.I.A. Story

Anyway, and, it's like, Stereogum is all over him now. W.T.F., Mr. Gum? Sure, maybe people actually read your blog on a daily basis and my blog is not even updated daily, but can't my "thing" be finding the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah of Comedy? Mr. Gum, you're so good at doing what you do, don't stretch yourself too thin, ok?

Well, it's nice to see others taking notice of a good thing. I'm trying to get Aziz out to our second city, to be matter of fact. Pitchfork should've had some Comedy at their upcoming festival. You hear me, Mr. Fork?

Comedy is the NEW indie rock. Support Aziz!

World's Ugliest Dog

Some disappointing news on the eve of the very first Tickles Dance Party. Turns out, my dog, Ramona (photo right) is NOT the ugliest dog in the world. Much to my, and Ramona's, disappointment, Sam (photo left), a 14-year-old pedigreed Chinese crested took the honors. Sure, Sam suffers from heart, lung and kidney ailment, but Ramona sheds...a lot, especially in the summer. Ramona has vowed to discontinue any and all cuteness from her daily routine, including, but not limited to, giving licks ("kisses") to babies, cleaning her face with both paws like a cat, twitching in her sleep and/or basking in the blocks of sunshine on our wooden floors. 2006 is gonna be our time...

Episode IV: A New Hope

I, Disc Jockey CB would like to introduce a new dance party to Chicago, simply named Tickles. More fun, more color, more dancing, more not making any sense whatsoever. Expect disco, brit pop, electro, indie, new wave, hip-hop, house, 80's and a bit of funk, plus random MP3 tidbits to lighten up the mood AND giveaways, for real.

The introductory night goes down Thursday, July 7 at Chicago's wonderful Schubas. Be sure to check out the live show, before Tickles, in the Schubas main room, which features The Cloud Room, Benzos and Luke Temple. The show starts at 8:00. Then, at 10:00 shiz-arp, join me in the upstairs room for my birthday party...for FREE! I thought it best to make this first Tickles extra special, so having it go down on my burfday (what-what 7/7!) was definitely the way to do this. So, let's do this.

And what would a birthday party be without presents? No, not for me, for YOU! That's right, I'm giving out the gifts on this night, which just happens to be DVD copies of the premiere episode of Comedy Central's new show, Stella. Stella features three of the dudes from The State (Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter and David Wain), for those that are not heavily involved in the humor mill. Am I talking it up enough? Did I sell it to you or what?!?!

This event is made possible through grants from The Onion & Grolsch & dancers like you, so be sure to read and drink and thank yourself.

PRIZES! CAKE! MAGIC!
